Then, the final part of the film is one monstrous 20-minute compilation of Road Runner footage, all fitting--not seamlessly, as the animation varies vastly over a dozen years--but acceptably as one big cartoon. It is in the opening 20 minute prologue that is engaging and original but irrelevant since the title was changed. There actually is this really clever thing done at the end. I loved this since I was a young aspiring animator I'm now a part-time writer ,and my biggest influence was Warner Bros's animation and the work of Chuck Jones. Consumerism This is part of the Warner Bro. Afterwards, he brings Rocky to court, but thanks to some manipulations and obfuscating by Rocky's at his trial, the mobster is free to go. The movie is full of funny, zany stuff. While it is true that these shorts are better seen in their original form, why trash these neat features? The title does not make a whole lot of sense either as Bugs Bunny dominates the action and The Road Runner only has one cartoon with his arch-nemesis Wile E.
This 1979 feature-length compilation includes several of his best cartoons. Mel Blanc and other voice overs are golden. The movie featured Bob Clampett, and is another compilation of cartoon shorts, probably the first to examine the history of Warner cartoons, which under-played Bugs' other 'several fathers,' and is part of the mentioned conflict. There's one Pepe Le Pew cartoon in which the skunk doggedly pursues a female cat, even when it's clear she wants nothing to do with him. This is basically a compilation movie made from many, many Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons and only a few minutes of new footage. He soon discovers that Marvin the Martian wants to blow up the earth with his illudium Q-36 explosive space modulator and he finds himself chased by instant martians. During Bugs' show, Daffy talks to an impressed Yosemite Sam, who then yells at him to shut up, which sends Daffy right into Granny's arms who glares at an angry Sam.
This feature contains what most people including me consider some of the greatest cartoons of all time. In summary, while this movie doesn't exactly have a plot, it features some of the best cartoons ever made, cartoons that combine impeccable timing, an incredible amount of wit, and many great characters. The Road Runner sequence is a hodgepodge of highlights from several cartoons, and while definitely entertaining, the material worked better in its original form. The music is full of energy and liveliness, the writing is witty, fresh and hilarious very often and the sight gags are inventive. Bugs promptly escapes that and then infiltrates Rocky's birthday party that night, disguised as a showgirl. Parents need to know that this movie includes some of the greatest cartoons of all time.
That being said, I have to say that some of my favorite Looney Tunes cartoons are in this first collection of shorts released in the span of the late 70's and 80's another I watched maybe more than this one was Daffy Duck's Quackbusters. The movie contains an infamous gag involving the rearrangement of Daffy's beak after he's blasted in the face with a shotgun. Here, we didn't get a movie, we just got a compilation of shorts. The more recent video release cover from 1997 would also make it seem like Road Runner appears equally with Bugs the original poster features almost every character who appears in this movie. All of the cartoons shown are directed by Chuck Jones.
This is the legendary Chuck Jones at his very best. In addition to the aforementioned cartoons, there are also mildly amusing bridging sequences where Bugs Bunny gives commentaries about the cartoons being shown. Bugs Bunny shows viewers around his mansion and presents clips from many Warner bros. The Road Runner flick is a lot of fun. In the end, Sam dies after being crushed by a safe that Bugs drops on him and lands in Hell.
